The Black Church
The Black Church is the largest Gothic church in Transylvania and the largest sacral building in Romania.
It is impossible to tell of a city in a few words. Sibiu is a city which must be seen. The city of Sibiu is a veritable open-air museum, with houses dating from the fourteenth century and with a specific atmosphere that can be found in few European cities.
Today, the fortress of Sighișoara is as alive as it was several hundred years ago, while sheltering the leaders of Transylvania.

The one who thinks will enter an inanimate museum will be contradicted by the roughly 140 houses of the fortress in which their owners live connected to the modern world. The one who comes to Sighișoara must look for the house of Vlad Dracul, the Wallachian prince who ruled the house from 1431-1435, where it is assumed that his son Vlad Tepes was born.
The Clock Tower is 64 m high and has 6 levels (110 steps). Its roof, rebuilt in 1677 in the Baroque style, after a great fire destroyed most of the citadel on 30th of April 1676, has 4 small towers on each corner. In the past, these reflected the juridical autonomy of the city. Until 1556, the tower hosted the city hall and after that it served other purposes . By the end of the 19th century it was chosen as location of the Sighisoara Museum, "Alt Schassburg" (Old Sighisoara).
The building received at the beginning of the seventeenth century a watch rebuilt in 1648 by Johann Kirschel foreseen as all the watches from Central European Burgs with three linden statues, 0,80 m tall belonging to more of a rustic Baroque and portraying pagan gods which represented the days of the week: Diana, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn and the Sun. The present mechanism of the watch is endowed with two gigantic sun dials with a diameter of 2,40 m on each façade of the tower where one can also find figurines installed in niches.
